Draupadi Murmu was born on 20 June 1958 in the Santali tribal family, and she is 64 years old.
Being a tribal woman, her life was full of difficulties. She married Shyam Charan Murmu, and her husband died in 2014, after which she went into depression.
They had two sons and a daughter. The first son died in 2009, and the second son died in 2013. At present, the daughter is working in the bank.
In an interview, she talked about her struggles in life and said
"I have seen many ups and downs in life. I lost my two sons and my husband, and I was devastated. But God has given me the strength to continue serving the people."
Draupadi Murmu joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1997 and was the former Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021.
She was the first woman governor of Jharkhand and also the first woman tribal leader to become the governor of Jharkhand.
On 21 June, BJP President JP Nadda announced Draupadi Murmu as the NDA's presidential candidate.
She will be the first tribal and the second woman to become the President of India after winning the presidential election.
