Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart Boris Johnson met on the sidelines of the COP26 World Leaders Summit in Glasgow on Monday and reviewed the implementation of the Roadmap 2030 priorities. Modi congratulated Johnson for his successful conduct of COP 26 and his personal leadership in global action for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
They reiterated India’s commitment to working closely with the UK on climate finance, technology, innovation and adaptation green hydrogen, renewable and clean technologies, including joint initiatives under the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Alliance for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). are also included. The two Prime Ministers reviewed the implementation of the Roadmap 2030 priorities. They expressed satisfaction at the progress made in providing enhanced trade partnerships, including the steps taken to initiate FTA negotiations, particularly in the areas of trade and economy, health, defense and security.
The two leaders also discussed regional and global challenges including Afghanistan, terrorism, the Indo-Pacific, supply chain resilience and the post-Covid global economic recovery. The Prime Minister reiterated his desire to welcome Johnson to India soon, the release said.
