The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked school principals to provide all the information regarding Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets to the students appearing for Class 10th and 12th Term-1 examination. CBSE has issued important guidelines regarding the term-1 examination of class 10th and 12th. This exam is to be conducted on OMR sheet. In such a situation, a letter has been written by CBSE to the headmasters of all the schools, explaining how they have to prepare for this examination and what precautions have to be taken about it.
In a letter to the principals of CBSE affiliated schools, the board said, “You are aware that CBSE will for the first time use OMR for the evaluation of both class 10th and class 12th.” Hence, it is a requirement that all the students and schools appearing for the Term-1 examination must have complete knowledge about the OMR sheet. CBSE has finalized its all new OMR sheet for its Term-1 exam, which will consist of multiple choice questions. A total of 36 lakh students of class 10th and 12th will appear in the examination this year.
The examinations will start from November 16. Each paper of Term-I exam will have a maximum of 60 questions with a duration of 90 minutes. Students will have to fill the answer on the OMR sheet with pen only, in which the use of pencil will be considered against the rules. The letter states that schools can download the OMR sheets in advance as per the schedule given in the guidelines. The board has said that schools are requested to conduct practice sessions for the students on the basis of the information provided by CBSE. CBSE said that before the practice session, teachers should also be well acquainted with OMR.
