Digital Desk, Puducherry. The Puducherry government will resume classes for students from classes I to VIII from Monday (December 6). Puducherry Education Minister A. Namasivayam announced this in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, the classes will be conducted alternately for half a day and it is not mandatory for the students to attend. Online classes will also continue and students can choose any mode of education.
A statement issued from the education minister’s office said that students of classes IX to XII who are participating on half-day basis will have to attend full-day classes from December 6. Classes for students of classes IX to XII reopened from September 1.
The government of the Union Territory of Puducherry had earlier announced the opening of schools for students of classes I to VIII from November 8, but it was postponed due to heavy rains in the Union Territory.

There is no compulsion for students to attend offline classes and as we have announced they are free to attend online classes, Namasivayam told IANS. Students of classes I to VIII will now participate in it. Classes will be held on half-day rotation basis from 6th December. Students of classes 9 to 11 will now have to attend full day classes from December 6.
