Digital Desk, United Nations. The United Nations and its allies are engaged in assessing the current situation throughout Afghanistan and providing necessary assistance to the people. People associated with aid work on behalf of the United Nations gave this information on Thursday.

Xinhua news agency quoted the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as saying that over the past seven days they distributed food aid to about 280,000 people in only four of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces. Food aid was given to people in Badakhshan, Baglan, Takhar and Parwan provinces. This week, cash and winter aid, household items, water, sanitation supplies were distributed to about 20,000 people in Ghor, Kabul and Parwan provinces, the office said. People receiving aid include internally displaced people and other vulnerable communities.

OCHA said that in the coming days, about 15,000 people, including internally displaced and drought-affected people, returnees, vulnerable host communities, and women, children, elderly and disabled heads of families, will be humanitarian in Badakshan, Baglan, Balkh and Kunduz provinces. Help will come. That aid includes food and cash. OCHA said the UN Afghanistan Flash Appeal has identified priority needs in the country between September and December 2021 for which $606 million was required. It is 113 percent funded at 683 million.

The office said $869 million is needed for the independent UN Afghanistan Humanitarian Response Plan launched earlier this year. It is 84 percent funded at 730 million. OCHA said the two appeals complemented each other, targeting 18.4 million people in need and 17.7 million people. Humanitarians expect to reach the goal by the end of the year.

The 2022 Global Humanitarian Overview, launched Thursday in Geneva, says 24.4 million people in Afghanistan will need humanitarian aid next year. It has described Afghanistan as one of the world’s biggest emergencies.
